Klipsch KF-26 Icon Dual 6 1/2" 2-Way Floorstanding Speaker (Each)(Black Ash)

1st, I’m an average listener not an expert,. But I love good sound and am developing a important ear for detail and quality. I have been to some number of stores (audio expertise and chain stores) where I listened to a range of brands desiring to go for the relative best sound for the buck. I have read lots of reviews for 100 – 500 range speakers and some brands that I didn’t get to hear in person got me inquisitive. I have decided to order some brands and do a mash up sound test. Granted that sound quality is subjective, here are my results from side by side testing of the Klipsch Icon KF26 vs. JBL ES80 vs. Bic FH-6T vs. Bic Venturi DV84 tower speakers with Sony SSF6000 which I earlier owned. I know that the Venturi was 8 inch instead of 6. 5, however I wanted to attempt the 8″ sound too. I got them at about same price with the Sonys being the least costly. The Klipsch comes in a big box and is well packaged with adequate padding which is good for shipping. In comparison to the others, the Bic FH-6T had the cheapest packaging and looks. CONNECTIONSThe Klipsch has double gold-plated posts for bi-wiring. The Sony, Bic Venturi DV84 and FH-6T had no bi-wiring. The FH-6T had a distinctive spring holes that was really easy to connect and disconnect than having to screw. Look:While looks are subjective, without the grills, the Klipsch looked modern and nice, I liked it the best! although I had seen it many times at stores, in my living room, it just looked so nice! The speakers are compact in comparison to the JBL and Bic DV84, making them nice for small spaces. With the covers on, the JBLs obviously looked most appealing, classy and well built. The klipsch with the grill on looked plain, however nicer than the Bic venturi and FH-6T. SOUND:a.

Klipsch R-26F Floorstanding Speaker (Each)

I have decided it was time to upgrade my surround sound speakers, and I could start with my fronts and center speakers. I had to keep my budget under 1000. I spent some number of weeks researching and ended up concentrating on Klipsch. Throughout my research I found that there’s no center ground with Klipsch reviewiers; people either hate’em or they love’em (though most loved’em)… and the reason some hated’em was because Klipsch uses horns to help deliver the high end frequencies and some reviewers felt overwhelmed with too much smart high end. The ‘high end’ issue made me a bit skittish. But on the other hand I may be one of those people that love’em. I’m an experienced studio sound tech with a critiqued ear and I’m fussy about my audio quality. So I figured I had 30 days to return them if I did not like them and I pulled the trigger on the R-26F for fronts and the R-25C for the center speaker. Well guess what? I will not be returning them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved’em. There’s more obvious high end with the Klipsch speakers, however surely not overbearing. I think the subtle higher class adds to the dimension of the mix. I hear things that I couldn’t hear with my last speakers… like the tinkling high end frequencies of running water or falling rain, the sounds of glass breaking or small stones dropping to the ground. I’m impressed with the speakers. The mids sound nicely balanced, and the lows are good for 6 inch woofers. But I am using a subwoofer to deliver my lows on a 7. 2. 4 dolby atmos setup, so that is not an issue with me. So why are there some amount of people that do not like the high end with Klipsch? I can only come to the conclusion that some are more responsive to high frequencies than others. Luckily I’m not one of those people. I think they are great sounding speakers for the money, and I also love the looks. I’ll be upgrading the rest of my setup with Klipsch at some point.

Klipsch KF-28 Icon Dual 8-Inch 2-Way Floorstanding Speaker (Black Ash)

I was quite surprised to see these listed on Amazon – the Icon series was produced by Klipsch as a Best purchase exclusive, and typically when you see exclusive brands at a big box store there’s a price/performance mismatch. But I do not see that with the Amazon offering. When it comes to parts, speakers are the single thing that will most govern the in general sound quality of your system. And there’s lots of technical mumbo-jumbo bordering these speakers. Lots of arcane numbers, mystical wattage ceilings, and so on. Let me distill this down to the one number you have to know about these speakers:98 dB. That is the sensitivity ranking of these speakers. In a nutshell, if you have one watt of power running to the speaker (since they are 8 ohm speakers), you’ll get a sound level of 98 decibels while sitting one meter away. And that’s a pretty darned high number. It rules how much power you have to run through these speakers to get a given volume level (and the watts/channel ranking on your receiver is how much power will be delivered to each speaker). And the reality is you’ll rarely need those 100+ watts/channel in your speaker anyway. You use the power if the music you are listening to hits a crescendo and requires more power to deliver the sound, however for average listening you are using 1 or 2 watts total. So we’ll take that 98 decibel sensitivity ranking and figure that a normal theater is tuned to deliver about 105 dB (and that’s uncomfortably deafening, so theaters do not typically play at that level). To deliver 3 extra dB through your speakers, you must double the wattage. So to go from 98dB to 101dB you go from 1 to 2 watts, then to 104dB you go from 2 to 4 watts.

Klipsch R-20B Bluetooth Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer (Satin Black)

Great sound quality and easy setup with the minimalist documentation. Nobody should be disappointed with the sound from the R-20B. Two drawbacks to talk about although: 1) The soundbar will randomly power on without input when connected via the digital optical input to your cable box (it doesn’t matter if the cable box is on, off, or in standby) This was annoying the 1st night we had it when it came on in the center of the night playing a movie that was on the cable box that we left powered up. The next day I made sure to power down the cable box and the soundbar still came on that night, though it did not emit any sound. It’s just annoying to come down each morning and see the soundbar and subwoofer powered up. I do not like the electricity drain. Now I disconnect the optical out from the cable box each night when we go to bed to remedy this issue. 2) The included remote doesn’t work well off-center. This may be remedied by programing your common remote or another remote to control it. Issue #1 has me nearly to the point of wanting to return it and I am now awaiting a answer from Klipsch on the issue and I have seen other reviews comment on the same issue. Not counting issue #1 it’s a great sound bar/subwoofer combo and we love the sound quality and clearness that comes with it.

Klipsch CDT-5800-C II 8" In-Ceiling Pivoting Speaker – Each (White)

These speakers sound great. They’re easy to install. I love that they’re directional in more than one way too. I recommend them.

Klipsch Mode M40 Mode Headphones – Copper/Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

This is my 1st “real” headphones review, so attempt to bear with me. All updates made are located at the bottom, if all you care about in this review is how it’ll perform in X amount of months, scroll to the bottom, as updates are all situated at the bottom of this review. DESIGNThese headphones are gorgeous! When I opened them for the 1st time, I was pleasantly surprised with how they looked. They’re of a coppery color with a slight red hue. They look F! they’re tough, and could most likely withstand some damage before breaking, although I would not dare think of risking it with the headphones. These headphones have the capability to fold up. Which makes them lots more movable than many other full sized headphones. My rating5/5 Style (they’re classy, not eye popping)5/5 Strength (While I have not dropped these still, I am not too worried about doing so. )5/5 Foldability (While these can not fit into your pocket, the capability to decrease their size may be useful. )COMFORTOne of the things I noticed with the headphones when I opened them were, “Wow, they are kind of heavy!” Yes, you’ll most probably notice this also, because they’re heavier than most could think if this is one’s 1st “nice” headset. When you put it on, you’ll also notice how great the ear pads (Which are memory bubble) are. They fit nicely over the ear, and produce a nice passive sound canceling from the sound outside. These headphones do this without performing a death grip on the head, however bear in mind that the headphones that do this, tend to have a stronger passive sound canceling. Also, prolonged listening will because one’s ears to become warm, which also may deter some.

Klipsch Image X10i Audiophile Noise-Isolating Headset with 3-button Apple Control (Copper) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

If you read my wordy review of the Klipsch S4i headphones back in July, you already know how impressed I have been with Klipsch’s headphones. Sadly, after around 800 hours of use, I managed to short out the left channel. Legendary for their buyer service, Klipsch was prepared to send me out a substitute pair. But, I had another idea. Instead of replacing my Image S4i headphones with another pair, I have decided to upgrade to the Klipsch Image X10i, the S4i’s big brother only, some how, much MUCH smaller. These being the world’s smallest headphones, they are also among the most comfy. They’re, in fact, the most comfy in-ear headphones I have ever owned, beating out the Klipsch S4i. The five, distinctive ear info include three single flange, small, medium and big info and medium and big double flange info. The S4i will include the same info but not the bigger double flange ear info. The ear info have an distinctive oval form for both easy insertion, comfort and exceptional sound separation. I use the medium, double flange ear info and by the 3rd track I have forgotten they’re in. They’re just that comfy. Pretty enough to proposeYou can tell they are luxury headphones, if not by the price or performance, by the exquisite packaging. While the display box can be a bit superfluous, after 350. Possibly the best bit of luxury in the accessories arena is the carrying pouch. Calling it a pouch is like calling a Mercedes a car. It is more than the fabric pouch provided with the S4i, this is a hard, faux-leather wrapped rectilinear box with magnetic locking flap. I will have to take a picture of it.

Klipsch HD1000 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System

My HD 1000 set is coupled with a Denon 890 AVR. I bought the speakers and receiver to replace a Bose 2. 1 Acoustimass III 2. 1 setup and a Sony STR DE 845 with a failed protection circuit. The speakers are in a 10×20 space, with seating on one long side and tv on the other (i. E. looking at space is shallow and large) with a wall on one side and an open L-shaped room on the other, with the subwoofer against the one side wall. The Audessey MultiEQ calibration on the Denon considerably changed and cleared up the sound. The calibration resulted in asymmetrical levels but perfect balance at the listening position. The sound is crisp with great imaging in both stereo and surround modes. The subwoofer, calibrated with its get at midpoint, ended up at -9. 5db. What seemed to be a low value when listening to test tones turns out to be exactly right: powerful, clean bass (as judged by The Roots and SNL via Dolby Digital), but no fake boominess or rumbling from voices. It’s amazing how many commercials use low frequencies to get attention, something the little Bose subwoofer missed completely. Stereo music programming via FL+FR+SW (2. 1) mode is richer and warmer than I projected. About the only disappointment–and this isn’t the fault of the HD1000s or the receiver–is that I’m now aware of just how much variation there’s in source material. I could have like to have heard it side by side with the 300 and 500 models, however there was no such opportunity locally. For the size space I had to fill, I could have bought the HD 500 but the HD 1000 became available for a somewhat lower price. The 1000’s somewhat bigger subwoofer is most likely not going to fit cleanly on the bookshelf, however I think my wife and the cats are to get used to it.

Klipsch KMC 1 Black Portable Speaker with Bluetooth, Black

I now own all 3 of Klipsch’s mainstream movable Bluetooth speakers, KMC 3, KMC 1, and GiG. Having spent lots of time using them I can say for certain Klipsch totally gets it. Sound Quality, Build Quality, Looks, and easy use – they have hit every single mark. Comparing their merchandise to other well-liked brands, as well as: Logitech, Bose, Motorola, Jabra, Beats, Sony, others also. I’ll tell you that, I believe, Klipsch trumps them all. Particularly given the fact they haven’t just one, however four Bluetooth speakers in their arsenal, and at different prices. KMC 1 fits right between their super-movable – GiG model, and the bigger KMC 3. It has a important APT-X feature (as do all of their speakers) that’s a must have for any Bluetooth speaker. I have mentioned this before in my other reviews but having apt-x will give you the most in depth sound you may be able to get now via wireless Bluetooth. Bottom line; do not purchase a Bluetooth speaker without APT-X. Sound Quality – This man packs a punch for such a small speaker, particularly for being in a comparatively small package. The speaker houses two full 2. 5” drivers and two 3” passive radiators, this mix also seems in the GiG model, and is a pretty nice setup. One thing I have noticed with this speaker, is that it can sound a bit constrained at 1st, it was not till it had a little time to break in that it really opened up. The restriction comes usually from bass notes. The speaker is sealed, so they’re tight and responsive but I feel they could improve extension by using a ported design, like the KMC 3 (Granted KMC3 has a dedicated subwoofer). Do not let that deter you from purchasing the KMC 1, I freaking love it, and it is a good sounding speaker.

Klipsch SW-112 Reference Series 12 Powered Subwoofer – Each (Black)

This sub totally kills. My 1st experience (after I spent forever EQ’ing it because my receiver had dampened the volume – it was too deafening for the receiver’s liking) was in Assassin’s Creed 2: Brotherhood. There’s a scene when you’re discovering the 1st Brothers of Romulus lair, and you have to fill a basin in the center of the room with water. Once you do so, the floor cracks, gives way, and some number of pillars collapse through the floor, plunging into a pool under. It was beautiful. My girlfriend asked, “What the heck was that!?” from the other room. When I run test tones through this thing, which generates half the volume this beast is able of, it rattles almost all the windows of my 2,000 sq. Ft. House and sends my girlfriend’s Australian Shepherd shivering into his crate (he hates thunder). On a somewhat more technical note, you can not be disappointed with the frequency answer. 26hz means it’ll hit you HARD in the chest. You may not be able to hear 20-30hz, however man, you feel it big time with this woofer. Because of this, it may not be best for music set-ups because it just hits too hard. If you like hip-hop and rock, it may be EQ’ed to work, and in fact, it is able of generating some nice, soft base. Klipsch has greatly economical speakers that need little wattage to operate. But, the point of to get a sub like this isn’t just to blow your socks off, however to send them into the next room. The 112 does that, and also rattles your windows and sends your dog cowering in fear (if you want to give Fido a break, just turn the volume down). My last verdict could be to say, as with most Klipsch speakers, that it’s great for hip-hop/rock/metal and home theater, and good with classical and acoustic (given some EQ’ing).
